Our guest speaker for the exclusive event is Mr. Justin Wood, who runs the Corporate Network for the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. A graduate of the London School of Economics, Mr. Wood will be presenting the findings from a recent EIU worldwide study on the impact of technology investments on the fortunes of mid-sized enterprises.

ABOUT JUSTIN WOOD Mr. Wood runs the Corporate Network for the Economist Intelligence Unit in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. Mr Wood joined The Economist Group in 1999, working as a journalist in London covering Europe’s financial markets. In 2002 he moved to Singapore to write about finance, business, economics and management in Asia. He joined the Corporate Network in May 2006. Mr Wood is a graduate of the London School of Economics, and has completed postgraduate qualifications in corporate finance from London Business School. Also a trained journalist, his career as a reporter and editor spans 15 years, during which time he has written for a wide range of finance, investment and general business media, working in the UK, the Middle East and Asia. He continues to write for a variety of Economist Group publications, including The Economist, CFO, and Economist Intelligence Unit research reports. Mr Wood frequently speaks at conferences and private seminars for multinational firms and government agencies in Asia.

The study surveyed 535 senior IT, financial and management executives on the use of technology to achieve business objectives and included interviews with 20 senior executives in the financial services, professional services, consumer goods, healthcare and manufacturing industries. Mr. Wood’s presentation will include a detailed analysis of the survey results – broken down by the best and worst performers among the respondents – which will provide insight into the IT practices of those firms that outperform their peers.
