COMMUNITY PROJECTS

Memorial Service for Civilian Victims of the Japanese Occupation
In 1962, the SCCCI spearheaded a community effort to erect the War Memorial at Beach Road in remembrance of victims who sacrificed their lives in the cause of peace. Since 1967, the SCCCI has been organising a wreath-laying ceremony every year on February 15. This solemn occasion gives the SCCCI an opportunity to remind future generations about the atrocities of war, and to value peace, freedom and the importance of total defence.

SCCCI Mediation Service
The SCCCI introduced The SCCCI Mediation Service in June 2002 to provide members and public an alternative to resolve disputes in areas of Trade, Commerce and Industry.

The unique nature of the SCCCI Mediation Service lies in its incorporation of the traditional Chinese value of flexibility and collectivism into the Western model of mediation. The SCCCI mediators seek to strike a balance between the parties' feelings and their mindset as to their rights/liabilities, thereby assisting them to reach an amicable settlement.
