Protect and Grow Your Business –
The Competition Act As Your Toolkit

Date:    30 March 2010, Tuesday
Time:

10.00 am – 11.30 am
(Registration starts at 9.30 am)

Venue:  SCCCI Unity Room, Level 8,
47 Hill Street S179365
Fees:    SCCCI Member: Free;  Non-Member: $10

Every business wants to grow and stay competitive in its industry.  Raising productivity and increasing your innovation level are the two key thrusts to enable you to achieve that.

You can achieve these if you use the Competition Act to help your business grow and compete.

Join us at the seminar to find out how the Competition Act can stop or prevent any business practices that are against your businesses competing on merit, such as large companies who may unfairly prevent potential customers from doing business with smaller companies; or by suppliers who may collude and fix the prices of goods and services supplied; or by companies who form a merger or joint venture that substantially reduces the level of competitiveness in market.

By stopping such anti-competitive practices that work against business and consumer interests, the Competition Act enables companies to continue to innovate and provide better products and services to their customers.

It is a great way to harness competition as you re-think your business and seek opportunities for growth.

Speaker: Mr Poon King Wang, Director (Strategic Planning Division)

King Wang’s work at CCS includes analysing industries, engaging stakeholders, and distilling policy implications of the Competition Act on the Singapore economy. A key focus of his work now involves helping companies understand and appreciate the Act better so that they can apply the Act to stay competitive in a financial downturn. Prior to joining CCS, King Wang was at the Agency for Science Technology and Research, and the Economic Development Board. He has also worked in a financial institution in the private sector and served as an adviser to a mobile/web technologies start-up. He holds a MSc from Stanford University.

Speaker: Ms Abigail Han, Assistant Director (Strategic Planning Division)

Abigail ‘s work includes communicating and engaging stakeholders on understanding and applying the Competition Act to their companies, as well as working closely with strategic partners and international competition agencies to cross-share knowledge and communications  efforts on competition law.
